If you’re experiencing difficulties associated with gambling, our Voluntary Self-Exclusion program might be a great way to help regain control. It offers the opportunity to voluntarily exclude yourself from gambling facilities and/or online gambling for six months, one year, two years or three years.


Within B.C., there are three Voluntary Self-Exclusion options for you to consider. You can sign up for one, two, or all three:

  1. Gambling facilities with slot machines. This includes casinos, community gaming centres, and racetrack gaming floors with slot machines.
  2. Commercial bingo halls, community gaming centres and casinos offering bingo.
  3. Gambling on PlayNow.com.

Please note: If you're self-excluding from a gambling facility, you're not eligible to gamble on PlayNow.com for the duration of your exclusion. If you have an existing PlayNow.com account, BCLC will automatically close it.

In accordance with the rules and legislation, you’re also not eligible to win gambling prizes while in the Voluntary Self-Exclusion program. Additionally, you’ll no longer receive direct marketing materials from BCLC or its gambling facility operators.


There are three ways to self-exclude from gambling facilities and bingo halls:

  1. In person at a gambling facility: Now that casinos, community gaming centres and commercial bingo halls have reopened, visit to speak with a GameSense Advisor or any member of staff to learn more about how to sign up.
  2. In person at a BCLC office: Call BCLC's customer support line at 1-866-815-0222 for more information or to set up an appointment at BCLC head offices in Kamloops or Vancouver.
  3. *NEW* Virtual enrolment: You can now self-exclude virtually with a BCLC GameSense Advisor. Call BCLC’s GameSense Advisor Program at  1-866-815-0222 and press ‘3’ in the main menu to book an appointment. 

To self-exclude from PlayNow.com, log in and choose "Self-exclusion" from the "My Account" page. On-screen instructions will guide you through the process.


You may re-enrol or extend your self-exclusion by contacting BCLC, or a designated representative, with your request. You will be asked to review and sign a new Voluntary Self-Exclusion agreement, again specifying the length and type of exclusionary period.

Arrangements can be made by:

  • *NEW* Virtual enrolment: You can now self-exclude virtually with a BCLC GameSense Advisor. Call BCLC’s GameSense Advisor Program at  1-866-815-0222 and press ‘3’ in the main menu to book an appointment. 
  • Calling BCLC Customer Support at 1-866-815-0222 to set up an appointment at BCLC head offices in Kamloops or Vancouver.
  • Attending any gambling facility in B.C., if your exclusionary period has ended.
  • Emailing your request to selfexclusion@bclc.com. BCLC staff will contact you to arrange an appointment. 
  • Mailing your request in writing to BCLC. Letters can be sent to:

  • Advising your problem gambling counsellor and they will work with you and a BCLC representative to complete the documentation.


When self-excluding, you’ll meet with a member of security staff, or if you are signing up with our new virtual enrollment option, a GameSense Advisor. Each one has been specially trained to handle requests for self-exclusion and provide support. You will be asked for government-issued identification that includes a signature and photograph, and you’ll be required to sign the Voluntary Self-Exclusion agreement and have your photo taken.


After the forms have been signed, your self-exclusion begins right away for the time period selected and cannot be changed. If you’re an Encore Reward member, your account will be deactivated and any points may be eligible to be redeemed for cash. 

Once signed up, the information you’ve provided will be given to security offices at the applicable gaming facilities to help you stick to your commitment. Upon enrolment, you’ll have the opportunity to consent to being contacted by a gambling support professional free of charge. There’s often greater success in regaining control for those who access support or participate in counseling while self-excluded. 

At any time during enrolment, the BC Gambling Support Line at 1-888-795-6111 is available for free, confidential support.


Ultimately, it’s your responsibility to honour your self-exclusion. Signing the Voluntary Self-Exclusion agreement means you accept responsibility for your gambling. BCLC is here to support you and we encourage you to access the support available to you by the BC Responsible and Problem Gambling Program. 

BCLC takes steps to identify those who attempt to breach their commitment. If you enter a gambling facility during your self-exclusion period and are identified, you’ll be escorted from the building by security staff. In accordance with the Gaming Control Act, you may also be charged with an offence and subjected to a fine of up to $5,000.


Those who participate in counselling along with a self-exclusion program have a much higher likelihood of successfully regaining control over their gambling behaviour.

At any time – 24/7 – you can call the BC Gambling Support Line (1-888-795-6111), which offers free, confidential, multilingual services to British Columbians struggling with their own or family member’s gambling. Through the BC Gambling Support Line, you can be linked with individual problem gambling counselling, debt/financial counselling or other help resources and services.

You can also visit https://bcgaming.myoutcomesapp.com/Intake/ to enter your contact details. A gambling support provider will contact you within 24 hours. This gambling support service is free and funded by the province of B.C.
